kjgvkhgkhgvkghAt the heart of
the Cobble Hill historic district, we are offering since 2006 the spacious parlor
floor apartment of our 1840 house, renovated to give a mid-19th century
feeling with modern amenities. Our street is tree lined and quiet, yet
2 blocks away you'll find restaurants and cafes, movie theaters, antiques
shops, all kinds of gourmet and Italian food stores, and more.
The apartment is ideal for parents visiting their children in the neighborhood, for business travellers or as a base to explore New York. Midtown Manhattan is just 20 minutes
away by subway. A fully-equipped kitchen provides all the necessities
for a relaxing and inexpensive stay in New York City. With its 12' ceilings
and original stencils appearing through the colored plaster, the parlor
conjures up the romantic charm of the Greek Revival period. Its earth
tones make for a restful decor after a day out.
Accommodation
The studio apartment is a spacious and bright
room overlooking the quiet backyard garden. Adjacent to it is a sitting
room that can be rented additionally to form a suite. An extra bed is
available in that room (twin size). In all, we can accommodate 3 people.
The apartment is independent from the rest
of the house. Once we give you the keys, the place is like your own. We just ask that you return it "broom clean" at the end of your stay.
Getting around
F and G trains are 3 blocks away; 2, 3, 4,
5, N & R, a 7-10 minute walk. Midtown Manhattan is 25 minutes door
to door.
JFK and LaGuardia are at as little as 35 minutes
away by car. Newark is 45 minutes (allow more for traffic conditions).
Things to do and see...
Great shopping and restaurants nearby: Court
Street and Smith Street, Atlantic Ave., Brooklyn Heights and Carroll Gardens
are a short walk away! 2 movie theaters, bookstores and Antique Row on
Atlantic Avenue are all within 5 minutes walk. Cobble Hill and Brooklyn
Heights are rich in architectural treasures. There are parks and playgrounds just around the corner and all the way to the Brooklyn Bridge.
Our favorite stroll follows the Promenade in
Brooklyn Heights with its breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline
and continues on to cross the Brooklyn Bridge on foot: 2 miles total and
you are in downtown New York City! Many local residents walk or bike to
their lower Manhattan offices.
While Manhattan is nearby, Brooklyn has plenty
to offer, from the collections of the Brooklyn Museum to the Botanical
Garden and the Prospect Park Zoo, to the rides and beaches of Coney Island.
Many neighborhoods have a unique ethnic identity and offer local flavor
in many forms. Most locations are easily accessible by public transportation.
See our street´s picture as it appeared in
the New York Times (¨A
Timeless Neighborhood Grows Even More Popular ¨).
We're looking forward to hearing from you.
Cheers,
